CYNDY’S STORY🐶💜 To celebrate National Volunteer Appreciation Week, we are pleased to introduce one of our kindest volunteers!

A few months ago, Cyndy stopped by our neighbors at @surfbagel and decided to pop into HAP before heading home. What started as a spontaneous visit turned into something truly special, a meaningful way to spend her newly retired free time while making a real difference in the lives of animals.

Since February, Cyndy has become a dedicated volunteer, and her presence has already made a big impact. She’s been a reliable helping hand at events, always eager to support our efforts, share resources with the community, and advocate for animal rescue. At the shelter, she often spends her afternoons during one of the quieter times of day, providing calm companionship to our cats and helping out with dog walks after dinner. Her gentle energy and consistent visits have helped reduce stress for many of our animals, especially those who struggle with the shelter environment.

Animals thrive on routine, affection, and interaction, and volunteers like Cyndy play a vital role in meeting those emotional needs. Whether it’s offering a soothing lap to a shy cat or giving an energetic dog a chance to stretch their legs and enjoy some one-on-one time, her care helps keep our animals happy, healthy, and ready for their forever homes.

One of the things we love most about Cyndy is her heart and unwavering kindness, she truly gives every animal a chance. She never judges them by their appearance or their past. Instead, she meets each one with patience, love, and the compassion they need to feel safe and valued. Her ability to see the best in every animal makes a lasting difference in their lives.

THE AHN’S STORY💛🐾 As we continue Volunteer Appreciation Week, we’re celebrating two of our most dedicated friends, volunteers, and longtime supporters, Tim and Sandy Ahn!

Tim and Sandy have been integral to our Volunteer and Foster Programs. Whether it’s walking dogs at the shelter, opening their home to foster puppies as they await their forever families, or stepping in wherever help is needed, they do it all with unwavering kindness.

Their continued support has made a real and lasting difference for not only our shelter pets, but also the pets within our community! You’ll often find them lending a hand at adoption events, community outreach initiatives, and fundraising efforts. They are always ready to connect with the community, share resources, and support our cause in every way they can.

Not only do they give their time and energy, but Tim and Sandy are also strong advocates for rescue work and animal welfare. They use their voices to educate, inspire, and bring awareness to the importance of giving every animal a chance at a loving home.
