Humane Animal Partners is answering the call to help pets displaced by devastating flooding in Texas and we need your help.
This Friday, HAP will receive a transport of dogs from San Antonio Animal Services, as part of a coordinated flooding relief effort led by the BISSELL Pet Foundation. These transport pets are being moved from overwhelmed shelters in Georgetown and Lampasas, Texas to make space for animals rescued from the flood waters.
Georgetown’s shelter has closed due to a loss of clean water, and Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter and San Antonio Animal Services have stepped up to absorb animals from both communities. But to continue saving lives, they must urgently move out their existing population… and that’s where we come in.
We’re expecting a diverse group of fully vaccinated dogs: all sizes, all breeds, all in need of a safe place to land. HAP is proud to be one of the Delaware partners stepping up to give them that chance, but we can’t do it alone. We need foster families (or adopters!) now to help us make room and give these dogs the individualized care they deserve as they transition into their next chapter.
How You Can Help
Adopt
Help us clear space in our shelter to save more lives! Browse our available dogs and cats by location now, or stop in during normal adoption hours.
Foster
(7/14 UPDATE: FOSTER APPLICATIONS FULL…THANK YOU!)
Fostering is a rewarding experience that helps clear space in the shelter, without the permanent commitment of a new pet. Current HAP animals are available for foster pick up this Thursday, July 10 to clear space, with Texas transports being available for foster pick up on Saturday, July 12.
- All dogs are vaccinated (including leptospirosis)
- Each dog has been behaviorally assessed for safety and suitability
- We’ll match pets based on your household and comfort level
- HAP provides all food, supplies, support, and veterinary care
- This emergency request is seeking 1-2 week fosters
Fostering saves lives, especially during emergencies like this. If you’ve been thinking about opening your home to an animal in need, now is the perfect time to step up and make a difference. Apply now to foster and then send us an email:

Donate
If you’re unable to care for an animal at this time, you can still make an impact by donating directly to Humane Animal Partners to help support the animals in our care, including those received in transport during rescue efforts. Or, you can donate directly to San Antonio Animal Services, in San Antonio, TX, Williamson Animal Shelter in Georgetown, TX, or BISSELL Pet Foundation’s Crisis & Disaster team.
Transports are arriving as early as this Friday, so the need is urgent! Please donate now or fill out our foster application and reach out to our team today if you’re ready to help.
Thank you for helping us be there when animals need us most!
